Afternoon all,

Not been on for a while, had lots of issues to sort with work and benefits etc, and now after having total knee replacement last year I am now having the other done in March.

I am getting contribution based esa and after my medical was placed in the support group, I was then told, because I am in the support group the changes to cesa does not effect me, only those people in the working group, then a week later I was told by another benefit officer that it does stop after 12mth if the government get there way, can anyone please give me a correct answer, I must admit the 2nd officer I spoke to didnt seem to now much himself he kept talking about other things.

Many thanks
Confused Joe

Hi Joe ,

In the Bill as laid before Parliament :

Quote:
Period of entitlement to contributory allowance

(1) After section 1 of the Welfare Reform Act 2007 there is inserted—
“1A Duration of contributory allowance

(1) 35 The period for which a person is entitled to a contributory allowance

shall not exceed, in the aggregate, 365 days in any period for which his

entitlement is established .../...

(b) does not include days in a period in which a person is a member

of the support group.”

This has not been changed .. so it is even more important that you remain in the Support group ..
To follow the Bill have a look here ...Progress of the Bill through parliament and sign upto the Guardian society email updates
